Motorized Pallet Truck
A Motorized Pallet Truck usually goes by other names such as: Walkie-Rider, Rider or Walkie. These pieces of equipment are basically a motorized type of a pallet jack. They are available in both "Walkie" models and "Rider" versions.
Just as the name implies, the walkie model is designed for the operator to walk alongside with the unit while they move loads. The Rider model on the other hand, utilizes a small platform for which the operator stands on. The rider models are great for frequent moving of cargo over extended distances within warehouses and manufacturing operations. They are highly maneuverable and fast.
It is not recommended to pick up and move tall or unstable loads as there are no safety cages on these models. A rider could be the best answer if you are looking for an inexpensive way of transporting loads from one location to another. If though, you should transport heavy loads short distances, and prefer to utilize a more employee-friendly unit instead of a pallet jack, the walkie model might be the right alternative.
Order Selector
The order selector or order picker is a piece machine designed particularly for manual handling of less-than-pallet-load quantities in racking. There are fixed forks attached to a platform in the Man-up design. This platform elevates both the load and the operator in an effort to facilitate manual unloading and loading from racking areas.
Order Selectors are normally very narrow aisle vehicles which could operate in aisles of less than six feet. They are really useful pieces of equipment during cycle counting situations as well as during physical inventories. Order selectors are available in lift heights up to 40 feet high, although models which range in the 20 to 30 foot range are much more common.
