Telescopic lift trucks
Telescopic lift trucks offer height and versatility. These units are equipped with a pronged lift on an arm which extends over the top of the truck. The crane, or arm, is known as a telescopic boom. The boom allows the operator to raise the cargo to great heights while maintaining a high degree of control. Regular lift trucks can not move the load towards and away from the forklift cab, whereas a telescopic forklift could allow that movement. The telescopic forklift is commonly used in construction and agriculture. It is better for applications where greater control and lift is required.
In cases needing high volume carton handling, hydraulic attachments called forklift carton clamp attachments are recommended. The attachment has arm pads with four way reversible rubber linings which enable the operator to apply uniform clamping force when picking up a cargo. It is available with a backrest which protects the loads from damage.
A sleep sheet forklift would often use a slip sheet attachment for storing systems that don't use pallets. The attachment clamps onto the slip sheet and pulls it onto the forklift forks. This kind of system is useful for overseas shipments and intra-corporate deliveries.
A man basket is a lift platform meant specifically to lift personnel. The basket attaches to the forklift forks, held in with a chain or strap that is to be directly secured to the forklift carriage. The platform has railings to protect the staff from falling to the ground. Brackets on the platform are used for fastening the worker's safety harness.
